Tips for Taking Great Photographs
Magical Moments Mirror Photobooth wants to make sure you walk away with a printout you actually want to hang on your fridge, so here are some pro tips:
Finding Beauty in the Ordinary – Sometimes we get stuck waiting for a “perfect” pose, but these photographers argue that beauty is everywhere if you’re looking.
Lighting is the “motivation” for the camera. Encourage guests to lean slightly toward the mirror to catch that perfect glow—it makes the final print look like a professional studio shot!
1. Master the "Mirror" Interaction
Unlike a traditional booth where the lens is hidden, a magic mirror encourages you to look at yourself.
Find the Lens: Look for the small camera cutout (usually at eye level or slightly above). If you look at your own reflection during the countdown, your eyes will appear to be looking down in the final photo. Look at the lens right before the flash!
Use the Full Body: Most mirrors are vertical and full-length. Don’t just stand there from the waist up—use the space! Strike a pose that involves your whole body.
2. Posing & Placement
The “V” Formation: If you’re in a group, don’t stand in a straight line. Create depth by having some people lean in, some stand slightly forward, and others in the back.
Mind the Gap: Leave a little room at the bottom of the frame. The mirror often adds digital animations or “Sign Your Name” text at the bottom, and you don’t want that covering your expensive shoes.
Angling is Key: To avoid looking “flat” against the mirror, turn your body at a 45-degree angle. It creates a more flattering silhouette than standing squared-up to the glass
3. Lighting & Props
Avoid the “Prop Face”: It’s tempting to grab five hats and three signs, but they often shadow your face. Hold props slightly away from your chin so the booth’s ring light can actually reach your eyes.
Watch the Reflections: Since it’s a giant mirror, be mindful of what’s behind you. If the booth is set up near a high-traffic area, wait for a gap in the crowd so you don’t have “photobombers” in the background of your shot.
4. Work the Tech
The Signature Feature: Most magic mirrors let you draw on the screen after the photo is taken. Use a high-contrast color (like neon yellow or white) so your name or doodle actually shows up on the printout.
“Count the Flashes: Usually, these booths take 3 or 4 photos in a sequence. Have a “”story”” in mind:
Standard nice photo.
Goofy/Prop photo.
Action shot (jumping or cheering).
The “”Model”” pose.”

Pro Tip: Magical Moments Mirror Photobooth has a “Beauty Filter” option on the screen, don’t be afraid to toggle it on. It subtly softens the skin, which helps counteract the sometimes harsh flash of a booth.
